A sophomore at the University of Florida, Melissa has been a member of our NYAB since 2008 and now sits on the Board of Directors for Souper Bowl of Caring.
"As I was conducting a presentation on Souper Bowl of Caring at an area church, the youth minister interrupted me," says Melissa. "She recalled her childhood, with both parents working two jobs each to try and make ends meet; she and her two brothers would fight over one can of tuna. She emphasized that there were no organizations to provide service to them and there was hardly anyone who was concerned.
"I have seen firsthand how Souper Bowl of Caring has enriched many peoples' lives, including my own," says Melissa. "Each day I am learning how to better serve Souper Bowl of Caring so I can help many struggling families across the United States."
