The number of Americans living in poverty is the highest it has been in 52 years. One in seven households in our nation is food insecure, which affects more than 16 million children. Research shows that hungry children do poorly in school and have lower academic achievement because they cannot concentrate. Scientific evidence also suggests that hungry children are less likely to become productive citizens and are more likely to suffer from poverty as an adult.
There is something you can do. Be part of the national movement to tackle hunger and poverty in local communities. Join the more than 260,000 young people who are assisting hunger-relief agencies in the weeks leading up to and on Super Bowl Sunday through Souper Bowl of Caring. Register today to join the team and make a positive impact in the lives of others.
