Souper Bowl of Caring was honored to be a part of the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) annual conferences and conventions this year!
North Texas Director, Robert Heppenstall, traveled to Temple, TX on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 for the District 6 High School Fall Convention. He had the opportunity to share stories of collection, donation and service through Souper Bowl of Caring. His discussion groups taught students how they can use their roles in student council to tackle hunger in their communities.
Communications and Food Drive Coordinator, Melissa Daigneault, traveled to San Marcos, TX on Friday, November 1, 2013 for the middle-level conference. She had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of students about the ways young people are uniting across the nation. In her discussion groups, she conducted a hunger trivia game, where students were able to win prizes for correct answers.
Students who attended the Souper Bowl of Caring sessions were surprised to hear that Texas is the third hungriest state, with one in six households experiencing hunger. Souper Bowl of Caring hopes it can continue to attend events like this to inspire more youth to get involved.
