Awesome job, St. Ignatius, Martyr Catholic Youth Ministry. Thanks for all you do!
How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring? We've participated in it since 2007.
Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team?Souper Bowl of Caring allows us to join the movement while contributing within our parish community.
What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items?Having our youth help collect goes along way! The community seems more giving once they see our young Church giving as well.
Was there any particularly meaningful or moving story from your collection you would like to share?A man that gave us his only $5 because he felt compelled to contribute.
Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Ignatius Martyr is dedicated to providing a variety of services for the needy; both residents as well as homeless individuals. We provide food, washing soap, baby diapers, some baby formula, female products, adult diapers and small hygiene packs. We give out food for people with residents and for the homeless. We can provide financial assistance with electric bills, gas bill and rent only when extra funds are available. We provide homeless with a "clothing vouchers" and any items extra has to be determine if we need to pay for it (case by case bases).
What does participating in Souper Bowl of Caring mean to your group?Participating gives our youth a wonderful way to give back to our community. It also allows them the opportunity to see the need for service within our area and to our brothers and sisters.
What does it mean to you?I'm always very pleased and humbled by the generosity of our parishioners. I am grateful when I can participate in Souper Bowl of Caring as it allows me to work side by side with my youth and visit with all of our generous donors who I might not normally see that contribute.
