Keep up the great work!
How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring? It is something that has been at our church for several years.
Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team?I was so excited to be able to make this fun for our whole church and look forward to seeing how many cans we could get. We wanted to donate to our Food Pantry that serves our local families on Wednesday and Sunday.
What does your group do to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring movement? We actually have the children have soup bowls at the beginning and end of service. We have a soup lunch and this year we added a SPLIT PEA SOUP SLIME!!! If we got to a certain amount of donations the leaders in the church would be slimed!
What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items? The competition between groups is helpful plus really getting the congregation involved. We actually ran in the sanctuary and gave total updates. They liked that.
Was there any particularly meaningful or moving story from your collection you would like to share?I think a fun story was when we reached our goal and we were able to slime the leaders and done someone said our pastor should go again and to be funny he said I will for $500.00 donation to the food pantry and one of our members said OK HERE IT IS!!! And we got to slime him gain and get $500.00 to buy food for our food pantry!
Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.We have a Food Pantry at our church and we serve about 40-45 families a week. So we are always needing donation to keep our food pantry stocked.
Are there any resources you feel Souper Bowl of Caring could develop to enhance your collection?I am happy with the resources available online. I like the graphics.
What does participating in Souper Bowl of Caring mean to your group? It is just a fun way to get everyone involved in serving the least of these. We know the food and monies collected are going to a great cause.
What does it mean to you?It just makes my heart happy to see the kids really getting excited and counting the cans and understanding that these soup cans may be the only food someone their age gets.
