Your Name: Kayla Conrad
Your Group: University of Nebraska - Athletics
Location: Lincoln , NE
Years Participated: 2
First Year: 2015
This Year: Collected $800 for Lincoln Food Bank
How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring?
Dwayne Johnson, a football student-athlete, is the nephew of Clara Cooper. Dwayne approached the Life Skills department with this opportunity.

Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team?
Dwayne approached our department with the idea and we loved the meaning behind Souper Bowl of Caring especially being revolved around a sporting event (the Super Bowl), since the donations are coming from student-athletes and athletic staff members.

What does your group do to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring movement?
We work with the Lincoln Food Bank to have barrels delivered to Memorial Stadium. There are barrels set up outside of our department and by the Training Table (cafeteria). Student-athletes deliver the items to the Lincoln Food Bank the day the food drive ends.

What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items?
We send out and email and text to all of the student-athletes and email information to athletic staff members as well the week prior to the food drive. Just making people aware of the food drive has been the most successful approach. Everyone is willing to donate to a great cause!

Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.
We donate to the Lincoln Food Bank.

What does participating in Souper Bowl of Caring mean to your group?
Our student-athletes love having the opportunity to make a difference within the Lincoln community. Nebraska Athletics has the best fans in the country so for our student-athletes and staff to be able to give back to those individuals who are extremely supportive of our teams, it's a great to show our appreciation.
