How did you hear of Souper Bowl of Caring?
I believe it was a flyer advertising the program. I felt this would be a great way for the children to participate in an outreach program and have some fun doing it.
Why did you choose to join the Souper Bowl of Caring team?
It presents an easy way to get all the children of the church involved in helping others.
What does your group do to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring movement?
Each year on Super Bowl Sunday the children grab their pots or baskets and walk around the church collecting donations. This year the children wore their favorite team's jersey
What have you found is most successful for raising cash and food items?
The children themselves get excited and are willing to ask for donations.
Tell us a little about where you donate your collection to.
We have chosen to help our local Virginia Food Bank. During the winter months our food bank seems to be busier than during the rest of the year. Local media advertises the empty shelves so we try to help in our small way.
What does it mean to you?
I believe in reaching outside the church walls to help others and enjoy getting the children involved in mission projects. My children don't know what it is like to not have food to eat. If I don't show them how blessed they are they won't know. We as adults need to teach our children how to help others
