The WAY Station, founded in 1987, is an ecumenical food pantry supported by the churches of Richmond Hill--Richmond Hill United Methodist, St. Anne's Catholic, St. Elizabeth's Episcopal, Richmond Hill Presbyterian, Spirit of Peace Lutheran, First Baptist, and New Beginnings. The food pantry currently serves over 100 households a month in South Bryan County. Persons seeking assistance must meet USDA financial guidelines and live in South Bryan County. Clients must provide proof of income and residency. Each household can receive food once per month. We provide a minimum of 3 complete meals a day for 3 days for each person in the household. Clients also receive toilet tissue and a bag of dry laundry detergent. The pantry is open every Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon and is totally run by volunteers. In addition to food, the pantry also has a clothes closet and various small household items available to clients at no cost.
The WAY Station serves as an agency of Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia. We are required to keep records and report monthly to Second Harvest on the food we purchase and distribute. Our food also comes from donations from supporting churches, food drives held by schools, Boy Scouts, Richmond Hill Library, U.S. Post Office, local businesses, and individuals.
