About this Collection
The Houston Village Project invited Victoria Baynes Lopez to emcee the event-and we collected $31 from the youth who attend and $50 from the organization for their 2nd annual Queens Ettiquette conference. This equates to 243 MEALS-THANK YOU! To add your company name to the list of others who are Tackling Hunger -please register! One CAN make a Difference -Will it be YOU!
When Victoria was 9 her grandmother passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. But as a family each year She would gather her grandchildren and collect food items, laundry bags and hygienic products and distribute by the Reliant Bridge. The year grandmother had passed Victoria noticed there were hundreds of people there and teens naked which made her very sad because nobody should live like this in a country that has so much. So she went to the HFB and asked what their holiday wish was and they said they wanted a bus because people have to walk a mile both ways with children down a not so safe alleyway. So Victoria used her media credentials from being on Toddlers and Tiaras and contacted Metro and The Chronicle-Both did an article on her and within 5 months there was a shuttle from 5th ward to the HFB. since then Victoria works with the Souper Bowl of Caring and volunteers at the Food Bank from Comcast Cares, and through the Local youth advisory Board to raise awareness of the programs offered at the Food bank. She emcees events and as a Radio Host at the age of 14 she has an annual Itz 4 Kidz Choice Awards and has given awards to President Clara Cooper for the work she and her staff has done to raise money for this cause. Please give -Please educate- Please Lead in this fight against Hunger. One CAN make a Difference-Can YOU be that ONE. Donate Today!
Victoria was looking for organizations that placed FUN in FUND-Raising. And we met the organization The Miss Heart of the USA Pageant . Which to support each contestant will bring in at least 10 non-perishable food items. It is with pleasure to report that Victoria was named Junior Miss and that over 4000 items were collected. The Great news is that the Items went to Doors of Hope and it was not counted on Victoria's website because she was just excited to finally find a pageant that looked at the service you provide instead of the gown on the stage. Please support Doors of Hope!
