St. Luke's gives thanks through Souper Bowl of Caring collection
Our Youth Group restarted this back in 2008 after being done by the Youth Group first back in 1999. Every year, we choose a worthy group to donate the funds toward. We try to focus on food related ministries. Sometimes, we've given toward our own long-running Food Pantry, and once to the Diocesan Alleluia Fund, and also to other outreach groups. In 2016, we are splitting the collection between the local Warren County Family Promise IHN and toward a sister church in Flint, MI to purchase water for the city that is sadly affected by lead-poisoned water.
Our church, through ECW, does a separate collection from people who graciously cook soup and which we then sell. Most often, proceeds from the soup sale are given to benefit our Food Pantry, although the ECW decides each year.
