So part of our Souper Bowl of Caring included making 1000 sandwiches for "Love One Another/363days.org" a great organization led by the endless energy of Mr. Allan Law who spend his nights on the streets of the Twin Cities distributing sandwiches to those in need. He also delivers sandwiches to local shelters because often the evening meal and through the night on weekends is when people do not have a resource for food. Together, RLC's Y-LIFE Youth Group challenged our congregation and friends to "come together and make those sandwiches!" And they did - from babies as young as seven months to elders well into their 90's - and all ages in between - about 60 people decided that today they would make a difference by living out what Jesus taught us to do "simply Love One Another." The sandwiches cost about 50 cents each to make - but through the generous gifts and collections of Souper Bowl of Caring Month - we will have the $ to make this happen. My heart is full for the sandwiches we made but more important, for the collection of peoples from all walks of life who took time out of their Sunday to say "Today I will serve another with love, with care and with compassion!"
