Teenagers donate to local (HBCU) Lane College

The Jackson, Tn Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. teenagers participated in the "Souper Bowl Of Caring" by donating 202 nonperishable items to Lane College's Student Pantry. The Pantry is set up to assist students in need while being away from home.

Babakar, a "lost boy of Sudan," came to MOSAIC a few years ago seeking a new future. Through MOSAIC, Babakar found basics to employment, a Venture program scholarship that introduced him to College, and volunteer experience. Fast forward seven years, and Babakar is now graduating from University of Utah with a major in Art and a minor in Business. Some would argue that perhaps he was not ever lost, but rather, found his way with the providential help of a diverse Utah community that cared!

2021 for the books

Between Covid restrictions and a snowstorm, we had to move our collection at the last minute, but folks rallied to the cause! The local food pantry is so excited; they are able to use the $$ donations for the perishable goods -- meats, milk, fresh veggies. Hopefully next year we will be back to "normal"!

Community Service

At the end of every trimester, we as a small Christian school look for ways to serve our community. From raking leaves and repairing equipment to writing Christmas cards to deployed soldiers and collecting food for local charities. This Trimester, we had a competition among the students and staff to see which group could collect the most food items, most money and most weight of items all to help others with food insecurities. Outdoor Community Collection

Normally, we would have a few youth stand in the Narthex of our small church and collect, but since we are not meeting in person we had to come up with an alternative. Nisar Ahmad Momand fled as a refugee for the first time from Afghanistan to Pakistan at only four years old. Nisar's father worked long hours for the United States military in Afghanistan before being forced to leave for Pakistan due to the unsafety. The father of ten worked diligently daily to provide in Pakistan, yet the family still lacked adequate food and clothing. Since 1999, we've provided food security to our neighbors in need, as well as monetary assistance for housing, utilities, medical care/prescriptions, etc. We welcome your participation as we seek to fulfill our mission to effectively distribute food and emergency assistance in Northwest DuPage through community and faith partnerships, collaborations, volunteer efforts, and ongoing fundraising.

NUPC Youth Make It Their Mission to Help Fight Food Insecurity

The children of our church are helping once again to promote in the nationwide hunger relief effort called "Souper Bowl of Caring." This day began in the 1990s when several Presbyterian youth decided to highlight hunger during the Super Bowl weekend. The idea was that if you were watching the Big Game, buy and donate an item to the food pantry for every item you buy for your party. Covid Challenge

Faith Lutheran Youth have in the past held a competition to see which team raises the most "winning votes" by encouraging the congregation to bring canned food on Super Bowl Sunday. Each can equals one vote, and all cans were taken to All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota, FL for donation.

We are Christ First ministries home of the Pantry of Hope !
