Rabbit Fest royalty strike out hunger at 2nd annual Souper Bowl of Caring

Copperas Cove Rabbit Fest Ambassador Edith Natividad joined the community to strike out hunger at the second annual Souper Bowl of Caring at Hallmark Lanes in Killeen last Saturday.
Natividad's platform of service was supporting My Brother's House, the food pantry of the Holy Family Catholic Church during her year as the Senior Ms. Rabbit Fest last year.
She started the 3-game Souper Bowl of Caring event, last year to raise money and collect food donations for the pantry. All proceeds and donations go to the charity.
"It was a success, I reserved 24 lanes and they're all sold out. I'm really excited," Natividad said. "If you can feed one family, you are answering their prayers. I'm not doing this for me, I'm doing this for the community."
Natividad said that last year's event raised $650 and 600 pounds of food.
"I'm expecting we'll get more today," Natividad said.
And that they did. The event ended up raising $1,141 for My Brother's House, as well as 915 pounds of food.
Natividad said that in addition to feeding those in need, My Brother's House also helps people financially with water and utility bills, and eviction notices.
My Brother's House, at 107 Lyons Street, is a Society of St. Vincent de Paul charity sponsored by Holy Family Catholic Church.
"It's set up to help residents of Copperas Cove and Kempner," said Linda McHugh, a receptionist at Holy Family Catholic Church. "We're open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until noon."
Top bowler was Jerry Stutz with 634 points.
Kimberly French, who attended the event with her granddaughter, enjoyed the community aspect of the event. "I think this is awesome, it's about family of all ages having a lot of fun. It's an exciting thing to bring the community back."
