HAVERHILL -- The First Church of Christ in Bradford will hold its 11th annual "Souper Bowl of Caring" on Saturday.
Serving time is from 5 to 6 p.m.
The event raises money to help needy people.
Purchasing a bowl that you can later take home for $10 allows you to sample as many soups, chowders, stews and chili as you like from the 15 or more varieties offered.
Have enough bowls at home? Purchase a disposable bowl for $5 with the same sampling privileges.
Also included are bread and butter, dessert and a beverage. Take-home soups are $3 while supplies last.
In addition, this year, to celebrate the event's 11th anniversary and help as many people as possible, the church will be raffling off gift cards to local restaurants and other businesses. Visitors can receive free raffle tickets by bringing non-perishable food items, paper products, household cleaners and/or personal hygiene items for a Food Pantry Collection. Participants will receive a free ticket for every five regular size items.
Through the Souper Bowl of Caring event, the church will continue its fight against hunger by contributing to Sacred Hearts Food Pantry, Community Meals Program, Veterans Northeast Outreach Center Food Pantry, Common Grounds Ministry, Pregnancy Care Center Pantry and others.
The First Church of Christ is at 10 Church St., opposite the Bradford Common.
