Gorzycki Middle School in Austin hosted this year's Souper Bowl of Caring Kick Off with community leaders, grocery partners, major media and were joined by St. Edwards Spirit Squad, Gorzycki Band and Epic Entertainment for a morning rally to launch the annual food drive in Central Texas. Volunteers from H-E-B, Randalls and Souper Bowl of Caring Texas Youth Ambassadors joined Central Texas Food Bank in a food sort of items collected by the student body, Mayor Pro Tem, Delia Garza presented a Souper Bowl of Caring proclamation and was joined by Executive Director, Alison Reese who shared SBoC's history and vision to #TackleHunger in Central Texas and beyond. Principal Mitchell was forced out of her office by the massive amount of food delivered by students for their campaign and Lamar Outdoor unveiled the new billboards donated throughout the city to support Souper Bowl of Caring efforts. Prepackaged bags were available at Central Market, H-E-B and Randalls along with the opportunity to make a cash donation at the register throughout the campaign. Souper Bowl of Caring's Community Goal is to reach $1.2 million in donations and is grateful for the continued support from participants, the public and partners in Central Texas.
